 What Parts Do We Use?

Some of our customers prefer to use ONLY Rotax certified parts.  If you want the pleasure of a Rotax 2 stroke engine for your aircraft, but prefer to use traditional Rotax parts, we can certainly accommodate that IF those parts for the 670 are STILL available. Because of this custom request, your costs will also be customized.

Purchasing the Rotax 670

Here is what occurs during a 670 build. We use a 1993/94 Rotax 670 that was made to accept the Ducati Ignition.  We do the necessary machining to the case for Provision 8 and the ceramic water pump seal, plus make a custom coil mounting plate. This is the same machining Rotax does to a 2014 582 Blue Head after it is sand cast. We transfer or install the carburetors, close off the oil injection (if requested), and install the gear box and the stator.

When completed, we have a 670 case, a crank that all the 1999 670 high output 132 HP engines had, with two 670 cylinders containing ceramic top pistons.  An old 582 looks like how the 670 starts, case, crank and cylinders. It’s a 582 with a BIG HEAVY DUTY bottom end, with RAVE Valves for a large saving in fuel consummation. (usually 1 gallon per hour or more).

A 3 blade Warp Drive with a machined hub, nickel leading edges & tapered tips is the way to go!!!  Call for pricing.

Purchase a Rotax 670 with a Trade-in

Using your Rotax 582 engine as a trade-in, the 670 starts at  $3750.  We will transfer to the 670 (from your engine) the engine head, carburetors, gear box, the stater/pull start, rotary valve oil bottle, rotary valve shaft, and other small parts.

Add $400 for a Blue Head we supply
Add $500 for new Ducati ignition
Add $675 for a custom exhaust (92 HP @ 6350 RPM) plus $50 if you require a side mount style for the mounting kit.

Or we can convert your 582 exhaust (90.5 HP @ 6700 RPM) for $250 plus $30 shipping. The stock 582 exhaust is rated at 79 HP @ 6400 RPM. The conversion of a 582 exhaust to the 670’s larger Y pipe requires a new elbow which is $125.

Overhaul of a Rotax 582

The 582 overhaul costs $1850 to $2200.

For $1850, we completely rebuild the engine. New ceramic topped pistons and ring kit, spark plugs, wires, caps & rubber boots, Your carbs are gone through with new boots installed. The heads and cylinders are resurfaced. All new seals and gaskets, including the ceramic water pump seal are installed. The outer bearing and seal holes are bored and opened at both ends.  Includes bead blasting of all parts and painting, plus the rotary valve shaft rebuilt.

For the $1850 overhaul, we reuse your connecting rods after we double slot them. The crank pins (like the top wrist pins) are replaced along with the lower rod bearing. We prefer only doing this on engines with 350 hours total time or less.

$2200 is the cost to overhaul the 1995 or later 582 engines with NEW double slotted rods. 582BlueHead2

$2050 is the cost of overhauling the 1994 and earlier engines with the small rods. We install 2 NEW double slotted rods, and all else the same as above.

On all the above options, we replace ALL the main bearings with the German FAG OEM exact bearing, replace center and outer crankshaft seals, new crank pins and new lower rod bearings. The cranks are trued to less than .0015.

We have rebuilt 450 crankshafts and have never had a single lower rod bearing fail on any 582 crankshaft I rebuilt. This is the cause of every 3 out of 5 (OR MORE) 582s I have seen fail, some with just over 100 hours total time since new.

Overhaul of a Rotax 503

Rotax 503 overhauls begin at $950.  At that level we do not replace the rods or center 2 bearings. We do change the outer 3 main bearings, inspect the other parts & true the crank to perfection. For $1500, we will replace the rods with new double slotted rods, lower rod bearings, crank pins, thrust washers & the 2 center bearings.

If the crank is changed AND A NEW OEM CRANKSHAFT IS INSTALLED ADD $875 TO THE $950 BASE PRICE.
